Corporate Counsel - Overview

The Corporate Counsel at Ruaha Catholic University provides comprehensive legal guidance and institutional support to ensure the University operates in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The office advises on governance, contracts, risk management, intellectual property, regulatory obligations, and dispute resolution, supporting strategic decision-making across academic and administrative units. Core responsibilities include legal advisory services, contract drafting and review, policy formulation and governance support, risk and compliance oversight, and coordination of dispute resolution and legal representation. In addition, the Corporate Counsel serves as Secretary to the University Council, Senate, and relevant committees, ensuring proper documentation, procedural compliance, and effective implementation of resolutions and decisions. Serving the Council, management, staff, students, and external partners, the office plays a critical role in strengthening governance structures, safeguarding the University’s legal interests, promoting accountability, and maintaining a secure and well-regulated academic and operational environment aligned with the University’s mission and strategic objectives.
